Cruising Adventure Sail – 11Day/10Night sailing Holiday Indonesia
Explore the islands of Lombok, Sumbawa, Komodo Marine National Park and Flores. This adventure sail is packed with the lot, surfing, sailing, diving and coming face to face with the Komodo Dragon.
Day 1: Departing 9am from Serangan Harbour for Gili Gede, SW Lombok.
On route we will call into Nusa Lembongan, here you will find the great waves of Lacerations, Playground and Shipwrecks. Enjoy your lunch pack whilst we continue in the fast boat to Gili Gede. Gili Gede is the largest island and provides a range of activities such as hiking to the hills in the centre for fantastic views across the other islands, exploring deserted beaches and hidden coves and meeting the people living on the island who are very friendly and, as yet, unspoilt by tourism. Just 15mins by fast boat is the world famous Bangko Bangko (Desert Point), enjoy a late afternoon surf as the sun sets over Mount Agung, Bali.Back to the boat for a hearty dinner and a few drinks whilst you reflect on your first day.
Day 2: A refreshing swim before breakfast and before we pull up anchor and undertake our 4 hour sail up to Gili Trawangan. Lunch will be served on board and this is a great time to lie on deck & relax whilst you sun bake and take in the calm of the ocean. Gili Trawangan is known to be a party island as well as offering good snorkeling, lovely white beaches and a great sunset off the north west of the island. Many café/bars to tempt you or bean bags to kill time. There is a good right hand wave off the southern part of the island, given good swell it really works. On Gili Trawangan you can swim, snorkel, tour the small island by bicycle, or go horse riding. There is a chance to dive here if you would like.
We depart for Moyo Island before sunset and cruise all night. Dinner will be served under sail and the dazzling stars.
Day 3: We arrive at Moyo as the sun rises. Moyo is quite a large island with virtually no roads. It has abundant clear water and has a large nature reserve. We moor off shore from a small village and walk through the villagers’ farms and fields to a forest path leading to a lovely clear river pool with quite a large waterfall. Above the waterfall are strong vines and you can jump like Tarzan into the deep clear pool below. After lunch we spend half an hour cruising to Angel Reef where there is a beautiful coral garden which is wonderful for snorkeling. There is also a 40m wall which offers good diving. In the afternoon we cruise down the coast a few kilometres and go ashore to walk through the jungle to a large cave which is home to thousands of fruit bats. Near here is a famous resort where presidents and princesses stay in luxury tents. We moor for the night.
Day 4: Early in the morning we pull up the anchor and sail a couple of hours to Satonda, a strange and mystical island with a sunken volcano crater lake in its centre. Local people believe the place has magic and they leave offerings asking for good luck.. The bay where we moor is excellent for swimming, snorkeling and there is some nice diving around the point. We depart for Sangeang Island after dinner and cruise all night.
Day 5: On waking you will be in Sangeang Island. It is a small and active volcanic island (Gunung Api) where lava ridges running down its rather steep green sides can be seen. Clear waters and good soft, hard coral and anemone growth are present here. Most regular marine fishes can be found at this dive site along with ribbon eels, cowries and underwater spiders. Enjoy snorkeling, swimming or diving before we set off for Komodo Marine National Park.
We moor near famous Pink Beach, named for the crushed red coral which gives it its pink colour. The snorkeling here is quite remarkable, some truly wonderful coral gardens, and there is a coral bommie that attracts fish by their thousands. We barbecue on Pink Beach.
Day 6:This morning we visit the ranger station and take a guided walk among the Komodo Dragons and hear horrifying stories of people disappearing, never to be found again. Between Komodo and Labuan Bajo are lots of beautiful islands. We will visit Kanawa, and several others according to wind and tides. This whole area is wonderful for diving and snorkeling. We’ll moor near one of them and spend the night there.
Day 7: We will enjoy another day in this beautiful area of the Komodo Marine National Park.
Sebayar Island - The diving here is nice and easy and there is plenty to see and enjoy. The snorkeling is excellent too as the lagoon above the reef has some very pretty coral gardens. We’ll overnight here, and there’s every chance we’ll have a barbecue on the beach.Gili Lawar Darat. On the eastern point of the bay is a dive site which is often full of rays including mantas. The channel between Komodo Island and Gili Lawar Darat is known as the Racetrack or the Roller Coaster and is a lot of fun. The tidal stream picks you up and carries you at high speed, and then gently drops you where the channel widens. Crystal Bommie off Gili Lawar Laut. This is an undersea mountain that just about reaches the surface. The current breaks on the eastern or western tip of the mountain and attracts huge numbers of predatory pelagic fish including giant trevally, oceanic white tip sharks, rainbow runners and barracuda. The bommie has a sheltered coral garden in the lee of the summit which has a very fishy coral garden which is one of the best in Indonesia.
Day 8: We will be anchored off Angel Reef where there is a beautiful coral garden which is wonderful for snorkeling.
Day 9: Before sunrise the crew would have set off for Keramat Island. The island has a lovely white sand beach and clear deep water close by the shore, great for swimming. We will spend the morning here, where you can spend time ashore. We will usually have a beach barbecue here for lunch before setting off for Gili Air. Set off after lunch, for a nice sail to Gili Air. We will arrive here late afternoon, early evening. Once anchored we can set you ashore on Gili Air, to explore this beautiful island or you may chose to sit on deck & watch the sunsetting over Mt Agung.
Day 10:This morning you will only have time for a quick swim, before we pull up anchor and sail back to Gili Gede. Arriving around lunchtime. You will be transferred onto Gili Gede Fast Boat for your transfer back to Bali.
